Obama/Biden have one very straightforward, very large task to accomplish over the next two months:  turn the election into nothing but a debate over issues.  Period.

A “debate” over personalities will elect McCain/Palin, and the GOP knows this.  The first stage of this has been happening very successfully – from the GOP perspective – for weeks now.  The 180 that McCain has taken on every issue that once made him a “maverick”, and his support for Right wing ideological measures that he never has before supported (and that the American people roundly reject) have been completely glossed over.  Indeed, one wouldn’t even know he is a Republican at this point.

And the choice of Palin – the most unqualified person to ever get on a ticket, and a person whose views are so far outside the mainstream that they would have once made John McCain cringe – will work to bring over disaffected Hillary supporters as long Palin is allowed to float above the facts of her “record”.

Obama/Biden need to nothing – and I mean nothing – but hammer the campaign trail on specific issue after specific issue, on Palin’s record on these issues, and on McCain’s flip-flops on these issues.  Healthcare, taxes, the environment, oil, reproductive rights, on and on.  With each of these, Palin is to the Right of Bush, and McCain is all over the map.

There are 1000s and 1000s of hours of footage, interviews, voting records and speeches made by McCain and Palin that Obama/Biden can use to prove this.  But no one will listen if they don’t make people pay attention.  If they do, they win.  If they don’t, America loses.
